Who We Are

Earley Springs is an independent special school for pupils aged
5–13 with Communication and Interaction needs.
We provide a highly personalised, nurturing and ambitious
education for children whose individual needs require a specialist
approach to learning, communication and development.
At Earley Springs, we believe that every child has the right to be
understood, appropriately challenged and given meaningful
opportunities to succeed. We presume competence and recognise
that a child's ability to communicate through speech should never be
used as a measure of their cognitive ability, understanding or
potential.

Our Approach
Every pupil at Earley Springs is unique. Our provision is therefore
shaped around each child's individual strengths, needs,
communication profile, starting points and Education, Health and
Care Plan (EHCP).
Our curriculum is delivered through three pathways: Explorers,
Discoverers and Investigators. Allowing learning to be personalised
according to each pupil's developmental and academic profile rather
than being determined solely by chronological age.
Communication is at the heart of everything we do. We recognise
and support a wide range of communication methods and use
specialist approaches according to individual need.
Our aim is not simply for pupils to access education, but for them to
develop the communication, knowledge, skills, confidence,
independence and regulation they need to participate meaningfully
in their learning, relationships and wider lives.

Our Learning Environment
Our school environment has been carefully developed to meet the
needs of our pupils and to provide opportunities for learning,
communication, regulation, exploration and independence.
Pupils have access to a range of indoor and outdoor learning
environments, including classrooms and breakout spaces, sensory
and multi-sensory areas, immersive learning opportunities, soft play,
outdoor learning and Forest School.
We recognise that pupils learn in different ways and that their
environment can have a significant impact on their ability to
regulate, communicate, engage and learn. Our spaces and routines
are therefore used flexibly in response to individual need.

Working in Partnership
Strong relationships with families are central to our approach. We
recognise parents and carers as important partners in
understanding their child and supporting their development.
We work closely with parents and carers, local authorities and other
professionals to ensure that each pupil's provision remains
appropriate as their needs develop.
Where required, this may include working collaboratively with
Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Educational
Psychology, health professionals, social care and other specialist
services.
